Balunu Foundation

Balunu Foundation is a newly established organization based in Darwin which is committed to the spiritual healing and empowering of our people, with a major focus on our Indigenous youth. In line with all Sea Eagles Foundation programs we support the Balunu Foundation in their uncompromised efforts to nurture and educate.

Warringah Council signed the Sister Cities Agreement in 2000 with Brewarrina Shire Council to promote friendship between the beach and bush communities and allow a greater understanding of the issues facing each area. In 2009 the Sea Eagles players chipped in $1500 of their own money and with support of Rebel Sport purchased new sporting equipment for Brewarrina Council. We are committed to supporting this program each year and look forward to working together to support our friends in Brewarrina in 2010

In consultation with David Peachey and Simon Dirs from the Peachey Foundation we will host our first four day Mentoring Camp for local indigenous kids. Participants will travel to Townsville where they will meet Elders and local Townsville kids, be introduced to bush tucker and bush medicine and spend the evenings with various mentors. The kids will also travel to Palm Island where they will take part in various cultural activities, the camp finishing with a trip to the Sea Eagles v Cowboys game in Townsville. We feel it vitally important that we provide our indigenous youth the opportunity to embrace their culture and bring back to their home town these experiences.
davidpeachy.orgOutback meets the Beach

In 2007, North Palm Beach SLSC launched a cultural exchange programme titled “Outback meets the Beach”. The objective of the programme was to promote iconic young groups of Australians from the beaches with those of Outback Australia to travel to each other’s communities and spend invaluable time learning and living in the vastly different environments that each has to offer. The Sea Eagles have been actively involved with the program since 2008 and will continue to support the program with new initiatives and player mentoring in 2010
