The Manly Sea Eagles today announced the re signing of premiership winning wingers Michael Robertson and David Williams.
Robertson’s signing is an indication the 26 year old is likely to play out his NRL career with the club.
The former Canberra winger has played 104 successive games with Manly and scored 46 tries. He debuted for the club in 2006 against the North Queensland Cowboys.
Robertson’s three tries in the 2008 grand final win over the Melbourne Storm is a record for Manly in a grand final.
With Robertson on the left wing the Sea Eagles are delighted to have David “Wolfman” Williams on the right side with the 23 year old eager to continue his career in maroon and white.
After initially signing for a two year deal, Williams has agreed to a new contract which will see him at the club for several more seasons.
Manly coach Des Hasler said the re signing of the club’s wing specialists was vital for the immediate future of the club.
“They have developed well at Manly after initially joining the club for an opportunity. They are both proven in big matches and are excellent finishers” Hasler said.
Robertson is now one of the club’s senior players and is highly regarded as a team player and leader. He said he was delighted to extend his career with the club.
“My time here has been my best in football so I never wanted to go anywhere. I’m happy to play out my career in the NRL with the club. Like everyone else here I want to get stuck into a good off season to again play finals football in 2010” Robertson said.
Williams, who had a dream debut season for Manly in 2008 where he made his first grade debut before winning a premiership and playing for Australia, is looking for consistency in his game. “I was up and down last season –I want to be consistent in the upcoming season” Williams said.
